Dan Esty joined H.E. Amb. Felix Wertli, Swiss Ambassador for the Environment and the Head of the International Affairs Division at the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, and Naoko Ishii, Planetary Guardian and former CEO of the Global Environment Facility, for a discussion on aligning finance with sustainability. The conversation built on the outcomes of COP29 in Baku, emphasizing the role of trade system reforms in helping move the world toward a more robust response to climate change and better protection of biodiversity. This exchange offered insights as the global community prepares for COP30.

WTO Trade and Environment Week Presentation
The World Trade Organization (WTO) held the fourth edition of the Trade and Environment Week, from 12 to 16 June 2023. This event served as a forum where government officials, business representatives, international organizations, academics, and civil society convene to discuss ways to make global trade more sustainable. Dan Esty—Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy, Yale School of the Environment and Yale Law School, Dr. Jan Yves Remy—Shridath Ramphal Centre, University of the West Indies, and Joel Trachtman—Professor of International Law, Henry J. Braker Professor of Commercial Law, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, were invited to host a panel to discuss the findings of the Project’s workshop series.
