Santiago - March 2025

The Remaking Trade for a Sustainable Future Project, in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Technology and Industrialisation for Development Centre Oxford (TIDE), convened a workshop on "Pursuing Greater Alignment Between Trade and Sustainability: A Latin American Perspective" from 19–21 March 2025 at ECLAC’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile. The event brought together over 80 participants from across Latin America, including Ministers and other government officials, international organization leaders, academics and other researchers, civil society representatives, business executives, and other thought leaders – all with the aim of discussing how to better align trade policies with the world community’s commitment to climate change action and other sustainability goals. The current geostrategic, economic, and political challenges that nations face added urgency to the conversation.
