Mexico City — July 2023
The July workshop held in Mexico City under the theme, “Trade and the Social Dimension of Sustainability” – hosted by the Remaking the Global Trading System for a Sustainable Future Project in collaboration with Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), explored the relationship between international trade rules and domestic and international social contexts for achieving sustainability. The conversation centered on the need to embed trade relations and rules in complementary and supportive social environments that can withstand disruptive trade impacts. The workshop addressed crucial sub-themes, including as workers' rights, gender equality, the interests of indigenous peoples, poverty and inequality reduction, and the link between trade and public health.
