The July, 2023 workshop hosted in Delhi, India focused on the challenges of decarbonizing the steel industry with a focus on Indian production. Given that the steel sector in India is already on a challenging and staggered path to decarbonization, this Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue focused on some key questions pertaining to the sector in the context of emerging measures like CBAM, climate club, the US-EU green steel deal and select other initiatives like harmonization of steel decarbonization standards. The event explored what role the multilateral trade regime under the WTO might play in the context of the ongoing decarbonization efforts of the steel sector in India and elsewhere toward a sustainable future.
